Training

Maritime schools provide both practical and theoretical training in navigation, ship engines and related marine skills. They usually have a training vessel , so that students can get handson experience. Graduate degrees related to the marine field like Marine Engineering Technology, Marine Transportation, Facilities Engineering Technology , Global studies and Maritime affairs are offered.

Sailor training schools cover both the theoretical and practical aspects, with emphasis on familiarising trainees with life on board ships. While some training is imparted in the classroom, in many schools trainees spend up to 5 days on board the training vessel.
